Welcome To the Princess Street Surgery website

Introduction

We are a well established medical practice based in Gorseinon, Swansea West.

The practice is a modern purpose-built medical centre.
It has a paved slope access for disabled patients and a wheelchair is available for anyone who cannot walk from the car to the practice. The practice provides parking spaces for patients with allocated parking for the disabled.

At Princess Street, doctors, nurses and ancillary staff work as a team to ensure that our patients receive the best possible care.

In line with the Welsh National Assembly we promote Welsh speaking at the practice and should you wish to discuss your problem in Welsh or any language other than English, please inform staff at reception who can arrange access to an appropriate interpreter. Extended consultation time may be required for this purpose; therefore, prior notification is required.

Our friendly administrative team are here to support; they are able to answer varied questions and will offer help and assistance at all times. They act as an interface between doctors and patients, therefore, the more information you give will assist them in this role. Please be assured that all our staff are bound by the highest codes of confidentiality which must be maintained at all times which includes outside surgery hours.

Information posters are displayed in the waiting area promoting new or amended patient services. The practice encourages patient involvement in the management of their care and we can provide patients with various ‘patient health education leaflets’ – please ask at reception for more information.

We have a designated play area for children and parents/guardians are reminded that children must be supervised at all times whilst playing in this area.

Baby changing facilities are available and breast feeding is welcomed at the surgery.

Telephone Responses

We aim to answer the telephone promptly and efficiently. Telephone lines are busy between the hours of 9.00 - 10.00am and 2.00 - 3.00pm, and we ask that you please avoid calling for non-urgent matters between these times.

Practice Philosophy

We aim to provide the highest quality medical and administrative services to our patients and we are continually expanding and improving the services we offer.
We see our role as maintaining and, where possible, improving the health care of our patients. We are attempting to educate our patients with the aim of moving from treating illness once it has occurred, towards preventing illness in the first place.
We also feel it is important to help you to understand and self manage as much illness as possible. We hope to be approachable and assess all aspects of illness in a ‘whole patient’ fashion.
Above all, we hope to provide a family doctor service, with an ongoing partnership developing between doctors and patients.

Patients' Comfort Fund

Contributions towards our patients’ comfort fund are always welcome. The fund allows the practice to purchase small items of equipment to enhance patient care.
We thank those of you who have contributed in the past and any further donations will be gratefully received.

Mobile Phones

Mobile phones must be switched off at all times whilst inside the surgery. Every effort must be made to adhere to this notification.

Freedom of Information

The Freedom of Information Act 2000 obliges the practice to produce a Publication Scheme. A Publication Scheme is a guide to the 'classes' of information the practice intends to routinely make available. This scheme is available upon request at reception.
