Clinics
Treatment Room
We have a dedicated team of practice nurses who operate our two treatment rooms for various nursing activities including health checks and all lifestyle issues. They manage all our health promotion clinics and can give advice on immunisation for travel abroad.
Medicals
If you require a ‘private’ medical examination, for example for working, driving or life assurance, please ensure that you inform the receptionist accordingly. These services are not available on the NHS and a fee will be charged. The scale of fees is that recommended by the British Medical Association.
Baby Clinic
A clinic is held every Monday from 1.45 to 3.30pm with the exception of bank holiday Mondays, as the surgery will be closed. Parents will receive a letter of notification from central clinic when their child is due for an examination or any immunisations. On receipt of this notification, parents must contact the surgery to arrange an appointment. This clinic is run by doctors and health visitors. Please note an appointment is necessary as it is not an open access clinic.
A second weekly baby clinic is held on Thursdays from 1.45 to 3.00pm. This clinic is health visitor only and no appointment is required. The health visitors are available to weigh and measure baby and offer help and advice on postnatal or child-health related issues.
Due to the risk of infection, please do not bring ill children to either of these clinics.
Antenatal Clinic
We hold a weekly antenatal clinic every Wednesday between 2.00 and 3.30pm. The clinic is managed by doctors and the community midwives and a pre-booked appointment is required. Please inform your doctor immediately if you think you may be pregnant.
Well Woman Clinic
The clinic is held every Thursday afternoon from 1.45pm and deals with all matters relevant to feminine health, including cervical smears, breast screening, family planning and menopausal problems.
If you are not sure whether you should have a cervical smear or if you are at all anxious about it, the practice nurse will be happy to discuss this with you.
Flu Vaccination
An influenza vaccination is particularly recommended for patients with heart, respiratory, diabetes or kidney disease and residents of nursing and rest homes. This vaccine is also recommended to patients 65 years and over. Please contact the reception staff in September for details of the vaccination dates and to arrange an appointment.
Health Promotion Clinics
These are nurse-led clinics supported by doctors.
Asthma Clinic -
Wednesday afternoon
Diabetic Clinic - Friday morning and afternoon
Coronary Heart Disease Clinic - Tuesday afternoon and Thursday morning.
To improve the management of all chronic diseases, patients need to attend clinics on a regular basis for monitoring and advice regarding lifestyle issues.
Please contact the surgery for details.
Minor Surgery
Various minor surgical procedures are carried out at the surgery in our well-equipped treatment rooms. For further information, please discuss with your doctor.
